The production of raw silk originally involved a ‘reeler’ making the silk by hand.
Later a reeling machine was used, where the reeler used her right hand to move the spool and her left hand to connect and throw the threads.
This gives raw silk its unique coarse texture. It is widely used for coats, jackets, shirts salwar kameezes, kurta pajamas and blouses.
It is 100% silk and should be dry-cleaned only. |
